Each PDF page is rendered as a high-resolution image and reconstructed by the img2htm engine. Multi-column layouts reflow naturally to one column on mobile and tables become real <table> elements.

Direct PDF page input in the API is rolling out gradually. For now, export pages as images and upload them.
